Building His CHURCH

LEADERS

God has given His church leaders to guide and shepherd the body of Christ.
We’re led by a group of Elders and Deacons who serve our local church, with the collaborative help of many other members who are crucial in building up one another!

Dave D’Amour
Pastor | Elder | ‘Magnify’ Leader

As a California native, moving to Australia in 1997 was easy – from one beach culture to another.
Growing up in a non-Christian home, coming to know Jesus in my last year of high school changed the course of my life. By the time I’d finished undergraduate studies (University of California, Berkeley), my faith had been tested in many ways and I had a growing passion for full-time ministry. This led me to graduate studies at The Master’s Seminary (M.Div, M.Th.)
I’ve been in pastoral ministry for the past 22 years, particularly enjoying teaching God’s word, sharing Jesus with those who don’t yet know Him, and coaching people in the Christian walk.
God has blessed me with a stellar wife whose life spurs me on in Christ-likeness and whose cooking is beyond compare. We’re blessed with a very creative film-making daughter pursuing a uni degree in secondary education.
Once passionate about all sports, this old injured body now enjoys the smooth movements of cycling for exercise, a good coffee for taste, collaborative games for creative thinking, and powerful movies/media that help shape affections into alignment with the glorious kingdom of Christ.

Kyösti
Elder | ‘Membership’ Leader

I have the privilege of being one the founding Elders at GBC Logan.
As a member in the GBC network for over a decade, I’m honoured to have served in many different ministries and roles.
Still my heart’s desire is to empower the local church to passionately seek & save the lost to the glory of Christ.
To help me serve Him, God has blessed me with a beautiful wife, three awesome kids.
Books, biking and the beach also have a special place in my heart.

Jason Mullineux
Pastor | Elder  ‘Maturity’ Leader

I live this life of grace with my wife Peta and our three children.
I was born in NSW but moved to Logan at the age of two with my family. I came to know the grace and truth of Jesus in my teenage years. Since then, God has proven Himself trustworthy in all areas of my life.
I love the Bible and love teaching it to others. It gives me great joy to see people read it, understand it, and become more Christlike as the Holy Spirit works through it. I’m astonished and humbled knowing that God allows me to work alongside Him, building His kingdom.
I’m privileged to be studying theology part-time alongside some great brothers and sisters at Queensland Theological College. While studying, I run a building design company and assist GBC Logan as a part-time intern, looking after mid-week groups and discipleship.
Three things make for a good night off: My wife, Thai food and an epic super hero movie where good conquers evil.

Rikus Bekker
Deacon | ‘Ministry’ Leader

Being born in South Africa, I love to braai!
Immigrating to Australia in 2006 gave me with the next best thing: a BBQ.
(But I still light an open wood fire for cooking when I can!)
While raised in a Christian home, I was saved by God’s Grace when He opened my eyes to see my sin but also my glorious Saviour, who is continually shaping me day by day into His image, so that I can honour Him more in all that I do.
As ‘Ministry Coach’, I endeavour to love and serve God each day by being His hands and feet, and encouraging others to be the same.
I have 3 very special, unique kids and God blessed me abundantly with my amazing wife who is my soulmate, living life as one with me.
I enjoy the outdoors by camping with my wife and family, as this is the best place to see and explore our Creator’s amazing design and creation.

Edmund Lim
Deacon | ‘Mission’ Leader

Fiona and I have been worshipping at GBC Logan for the last 3 years.
We are excited and committed to growing in Christ with our church family and be a blessing to the community that our church is in word and deed.

Tim Fong
Deacon

A born and bred Brisbanite! While I grew up in a Christian family, I only had a real sense of my sin and my need for a Saviour when I was a teenager.
Since then, I have been more and more humbled to know Christ, to learn more about Christ, and to be a small part of  building His kingdom.
Through God’s providence, I also had the opportunity and incredible blessing to have completed studies at Queensland Theological College, and have been on two overseas mission/aid trips.
Currently, I serve as one of the deacons in our church, while helping out in various other duties, including leading one of our Grace Groups (mid-week groups). I’m a dentist by occupation and have been married to Stephenie for almost 7 years.
I love footy (by that I mean rugby league of course), have played touch footy for most of my life, and I also enjoy photography, gardening, and lately, mountain biking and anime.

Mark Tearle
Deacon
Under God’s providence I grew up in New Zealand, in a Christian home and Church where the Word of God was central to life and practice.
This time allowed me to see that my sin alone separated me from a holy God who also made it possible to be reconciled to Him.
God has always proven His faithfulness in life’s ups and downs personally and as a family as He patiently molds me into the image of His perfect Son.
In 2017 my Wife and I moved to Australia with our 2 boys. We have now settled into life here in Brisbane where God has blessed us with a third son. I now consider Australia our home.
It is an honor to be a member at GBC Logan and to serve the Lord as a deacon. In my spare time I enjoy exploring the Aussie outdoors with my family, a good action movie, motorsport and cooking on the BBQ.

Elders

Elders are responsible for overseeing the teaching and prayer ministries of the church. Their job is to protect and defend the teaching of the gospel, as well as overseeing pastoral care.  The Biblical qualifications for elders can be found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

Deacons

Deacons are responsible for leading in service in the church. They are the first point of contact for resourcing ministry and serving the church and wider community.  The Biblical qualifications for elders can be found in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.

Staff

The church sets apart some people by employing them to coordinate ministry. Currently Dave, Jason & Ed are on staff.
